Slide gate refractories are roughly classified into plates and nozzles. In both of them, durability is strongly influenced by operational conditions like the kind of steel, casting time, molten steel temperature, amount of steel and so on. The corporation, therefore, selects and recommends the optimal material and brick design in consideration with the conditions for each respective client.
For slide gate plates
Steel ladle gates
Carbon-bonded alumina-carbon bricks (MRX or SRX series)
Tundish gates
Metal-bonded high alumina bricks (BRX series)
For slide gate nozzles
Metal-bonded high alumina bricks (RMC series) are chiefly applied for either ladles or tundish gates. Furthermore, in tundish slide gates, their plates or nozzles are often provided with gas bubbling conduits for the purpose of preventing nozzle clogging.
Environmentally-friendly tar-fume free bricks
Since the 2nd half of the 1970s, Krosaki Harima Corporation has developed tar-fume free bricks considering environmental improvement for operators of steel-making plants. Nowadays all of our products are free from tar-fumes.
Hot repair materials
Also available are joint sealant sheets (KROJOC), which are applied in joints between the plate and the nozzle, or between various nozzles and the hot repair material applied to the plate sliding surface.
Design and manufacturing
Other than slide gate applications, the corporation also designs and manufactures zirconia metering nozzles for tundishes in the open nozzle casting.
