Features of EVERCLEAN™

EVERCLEAN™ is a product used for nozzles (such as immersion nozzles) that control the flow of molten steel in the mold during continuous casting in the steelmaking process.

Ironmaking Process
EVERCLEAN™

During casting, if unwanted substances (inclusions) in the molten steel adhere to the nozzle, the flow of molten steel in the mold becomes disturbed, significantly affecting the quality, productivity, and safety of steel products. EVERCLEAN™ has the effect of being less prone to nozzle clogging due to its effect of suppressing adhesion of inclusions inside the nozzle.

This photo compares inclusion adhesion inside the nozzle between EVERCLEAN™ (left) and a conventional product (right) after 3Heat casting.
While the conventional product (right) has a lot of inclusion adhesion inside the nozzle, EVERCLEAN™ (left) shows almost no adhesion.

Advantages of EVERCLEAN™

1 Reduction of inclusion adhesion inside the nozzle for improved quality of steel products

When the immersion nozzle used in continuous casting in the steelmaking process becomes clogged, the flow of molten steel in the mold is disrupted, degrading the quality of the steel.
Due to its resistance to inclusion adhesion inside the nozzle, EVERCLEAN™ stabilizes the flow of molten steel and the molten steel surface in the mold, leading to dramatic improvements in steel quality.

2 Lower nozzle replacement frequency for improved productivity

EVERCLEAN™ promises improved service life of immersion nozzles due to its resistance to nozzle clogging.
Improved nozzle service life reduces the frequency of nozzle replacement, greatly contributing to the improvement of customer productivity.

3 Prevents the risk of breakout accidents, contributing to safe operations

When an immersion nozzle becomes clogged, the flow of molten steel in the mold is disrupted. This can cause an accident called “breakout” where the solidified steel shell in the mold ruptures and the internal molten steel leaks outside the mold. When this sort of accident occurs, it causes major productivity losses as recovery operations require a considerable amount of time.
By using EVERCLEAN™, accident risk can be reduced and operations can be stabilized.

4 Cost reduction and CO₂ emissions reduction in customer manufacturing processes through extended nozzle service life

Using EVERCLEAN™ improves nozzle service life, allowing customers to reduce their nozzle usage. This leads to a reduction in the combustion energy costs and refractories usage required for preheating new nozzles, thus resulting in reduced CO₂ emissions.

Additionally, by improving the flow of molten steel in the mold, the quality improvement of steel is possible, and the need for surface grinding after continuous casting process is eliminated, leading to energy savings and further CO₂ emission reductions.
