A: On the second day, the number of visitors increased significantly from the morning. Our day started with the “Presidential Award Breakfast” hosted by AISTech.
B: That’s right. Approximately 250 people, mainly from exhibiting companies, gathered at the venue for the “Presidential Award Breakfast” and participated in various awards and keynote speeches by the AIST Board of Directors. We also had an exciting time enjoying breakfast while applauding the achievements of industry leaders and listening to a speech by AIST President and Steel Dynamics Inc. co-founder Richard P. Teets Jr. on the history and future prospects of the U.S. steel industry.
A: At the “Presidential Award Breakfast,” Mr. Máximo Vedoya of Ternium was selected for the Steelmaker of the Year Award 2025. In his acceptance speech, He expressed his joy by saying, “This award is dedicated to the 34,000 employees of Ternium who believe in being the driving force of progress every day.” He also reflected on the current situation and mentioned the need to strengthen the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement). Today, there were over 150 paper presentations, which is significantly more than the first day.
B: He also touched on the Mexico Pesquería low-carbon steel mill project, scheduled to start operations in 2026, commenting, “We plan to produce 2.6 million tons of automotive steel sheets annually with the industry’s lowest CO₂ emissions.” The venue was bustling with AIST members and steel industry professionals from around the world, actively engaging in networking and information exchange. Additionally, this event was streamed live, allowing remote participants to watch online.
A: It is expected that this traditional breakfast meeting will continue to provide opportunities for further development and exchange in the coming years. Tomorrow, we will report on the situation of the final day.
