Landscape bricks made from recycled urban waste

Planning, manufacturing and construction of landscape bricks made from recycled urban waste

Even waste is a good raw material

Daimon Kimachi Avenue (Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City)

Kitakyushu City, where Krosaki Harima is headquartered, has evolved into an “industrial city of manufacturing.” Many companies, including factories in the city, produce industrial waste and from that, we select the waste material that can be used as raw material for bricks. Approximately 1000 tons of recycled bricks were supplied to the Daimon Kimachi Avenue which runs beside Kokura Castle in Kitakyushu City. We will continue to actively promote activities that build our relationship with the local community, and also work to realize a circular society.

What is unburnt?

The process of “firing”, which is necessary when making bricks, is important as it ensures durability and brings out that warmth characteristic of bricks. However, it is also a fact that firing generates CO2.
So far, we have developed “unburnt” products that do not require firing in tandem with making bricks. While focusing on “pottery”, we will continue to promote the spread of “unburnt bricks” in anticipation of a carbon-neutral future and work to reduce CO2.
